This document briefly outlines new features and enhancements that have been added to the StuffIt Lite package. For more detailed information and instructions on some of the major features, please read the User╒s Guide, and all of the online documentation located in the ╥Read Us First!╙ folder.
StuffIt Lite 3.5
==============
Ñ Accelerated for Power Macintosh
Owners of Power Macintosh computers will notice a dramatic speed increase in Stuffing and expanding files. Some file translators have also been accelerated. The average speed increase is about 500% (6100 vs. IIci)
Ñ True Finder Integration¬
Under System 7.5 and higher, users can take advantage of True Finder Integration. You can now UnStuff a file by dragging it out of an open archive window onto the desktop (or onto a folder in the Finder, or even drag it onto the desktop trash). You can also add files and folders to StuffIt archives by dragging them from the Finder onto an open archive window. If you have System 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 AND have the extensions ╥Dragging Enabler╙ and ╥Macintosh Drag and Drop╙ installed on your computer, then you can also use True Finder Integration. These extensions do not come with StuffIt Lite. However, you can obtain these extensions as part of the StuffIt Deluxe pacakge, or through other sources such as Apple Computer.
Ñ Better support for scripting
Support for AppleScript has been greatly improved. In addition to an improved vocabulary and more intelligent recording capabilities, you are now able to ╥attach╙ your favorite AppleScripts to the Scripts menu for quicker access.
Ñ Improved comments window
The comments window is now a movable modal dialog, and supports dragging text both within the window and between it and other draggable applications.
Translators
==========
Ñ Consistent interface throughout all translators
Ñ BinHex now supports multiple part BinHex files
Ñ DDExpand removed (Symantec no longer supports this feature)
Ñ AppleLink translator renamed ╥PKG Expand╙; no longer creates AppleLink packages; now scriptable
